Verb To Be - Present
 
O verbo “to be” significa ser ou estar em Inglês. É um dos primeiros verbos que aprendemos pois precisamos dele em grande parte das frases. Entretanto, é um verbo muito simples que não precisa de nenhum auxiliar para ficar nas formas negativas ou interrogativas, observe logo abaixo as formas do verbo to be no presente simples.
 Na 1ª coluna encontra-se a forma sem contração e na 2ª, mostramos a forma contraída. A forma interrogativa não possui contração:

Respostas curtas
As respostas curtas com verbo to be, são relativamente simples, são respostas dadas de acordo com a pessoa usada para perguntar:
Exemplo:
Pergunta: Is she at home? (Ela está em casa?)
Resposta: Yes, she is. (Sim, ela está)
